As outlined in Subsection 3408 of the Louisiana Real Estate Appraisers Law, during each two-year certification period and as a prerequisite for certification renewal, state licensed appraisers must complete thirty hours of continuing education course work in courses approved by the Louisiana Real Estate Appraisers Board as follows:

• The mandatory 7-Hour National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) Update Course.  (No Exceptions.) 
• 23 hours in real estate appraisal electives (The certified appraiser may complete these hours in appraisal subject(s) of his/her choice provided the Board approves the course(s).

Note:  While many courses consist of more than 30 instructional hours, the Board has approved a maximum of 23 hours continuing education credit since certified appraisers must complete the mandatory 7-hour USPAP course.

Course completed through institutions or providers not included herein may be considered for continuing education approval on an individual basis; however, such course work must be submitted to the Board for a determination prior to submission of the applicant’s certification renewal application.
