Subsection 3399 of the Louisiana Real Estate Appraisers Law requires the following qualifying educational requirements for applicants seeking a license as an Appraiser Trainee or a  Residential or General Certified Appraiser.  Course work must be completed prior to applying for certification.

APPRAISER TRAINEE -  Seventy-Five (75) hours of academic instruction, which includes 30 hours in Appraisal Principles, 30 hours in Appraisal Practice and 15 hours of instruction on the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).  

RESIDENTIAL CERTIFICATION – 200 hours of AQB required Core Curriculum courses as listed here AND an Associate Degree or higher OR 21 semester credit hours in the following courses: English Composition; Principles of Economics (Micro or Macro); Finance; Algebra, Geometry or higher math; Statistics; Computer Science; and Business or Real Estate Law.

GENERAL CERTIFICATION – 300 hours of AQB required Core Curriculum courses as listed here AND a Bachelors Degree or higher OR 30 semester credit hours in the following courses: English Composition; Micro Economics; Macro Economics; Finance; Algebra, Geometry or higher math; Statistics; Computer Science; Business or Real Estate Law; and two (2) elective courses in accounting, geography, ag-economics, business management, or real estate.
