  Qualifying Education
 

Credit toward the qualifying education requirement for appraiser trainee, certified residential and certified general appraiser licensing will only be granted for courses that consist of at least 15 instructional hours, including successful completion of a final examination.

Real Estate Appraiser Trainee
Seventy five (75) hours of AQB required Core Curriculum courses as listed below:

Basic Appraisal Principles 30 hours
Basic Appraisal Procedures 30 hours
15-Hour National USPAP or Equivalent 15 hours
Total Hours Required 75 hours

Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser
200 hours of AQB required Core Curriculum courses as listed below AND an Associate Degree or higher OR 21 semester credit hours in the following courses: English Composition; Principles of Economics (Micro or Macro); Finance; Algebra, Geometry or higher math; Statistics; Computer Science; and Business or Real Estate Law.

Basic Appraisal Principles 30 hours
Basic Appraisal Procedures 30 hours
15-Hour National USPAP or Equivalent 15 hours
Residential Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use 15 hours
Residential Appraiser Site Valuation and Cost Approach 15 hours
Residential Sales Comparison and Income Approaches 30 hours
Residential Report Writing and Case Studies 15 hours
Statistics, Modeling and Finance 15 hours
Advances Residential Applications and Case Studies 15 hours

Appraisal Subject Matter Electives (may include hours over minimum shown above in other modules)

20 hours
Total Hours Required 200 hours

Certified General Real Estate Appraiser
300 hours of AQB required Core Curriculum courses as listed below AND a Bachelors Degree or higher OR 30 semester credit hours in the following courses: English Composition; Micro Economics; Macro Economics; Finance; Algebra, Geometry or higher math; Statistics; Computer Science; Business or Real Estate Law; and two (2) elective courses in accounting, geography, ag-economics, business management, or real estate.

15-Hour National USPAP or Equivalent 15 hours
General Appraiser  Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use 30 hours
General Appraiser Site Valuation and Cost Approach 30 hours

General Appraiser Report Writing and Case Studies 30 hours
Statistics, Modeling and Finance 15 hours

Approved Qualifying Education Providers and Courses

  Continuing Education

Credit toward the continuing education requirement for licensed appraiser trainees, certified residential and certified general appraisers will only be granted for courses that consist of at least two instructional hours.  A final examination is not required on courses administered for the purpose of continuing education. Effective January 1, 2005, all continuing education hours submitted for credit must be in appraiser topics. This includes any course completed through the Louisiana Real Estate Commission Seminar Program, REALTOR® boards, and/or proprietary schools. This action is taken based on a mandate from the Federal Appraisal Subcommittee in Washington, D.C.
